How did I start selling crystals? ELVIS told me to!
I had just opened my dream store – The Fung Shway Way in London, ON in 2006. It was a small specialty shop focused on modern decor that could help balance a home’s fengshui energy, based on items’ representations of the 5 elements of FIRE, EARTH, METAL, WATER or WOOD. I looked after the retail aspect of the business, and my mom was the fengshui expert, giving consultations for homes and businesses.
The mall we were located in was having an Elvis Impersonator People’s Choice Contest, right in front of our store, on the first Saturday we were open! There we were with numerous different Elvis’s wandering in and out of our store! One of the Elvis’s was very interested in our store’s premise and suggested that we should add crystals to our inventory.
So we did some quick research and found a supplier and ordered 10 different types of tumbled crystals.
I had not used crystals before so I also brought in copies of “The Crystal Bible” by Judy Hall.
When our first shipment arrived, I eagerly began studying them – comparing them to “The Crystal Bible”. They were beautiful to look at, and I enjoyed holding them. I was wearing shorts, and had some carnelian pieces sitting on my leg while I read through the book. I had had a lower backache from a pulled muscle that had been sore for many weeks and was researching which rocks could help with muscle aches.
Crystal healing was a new concept to me. I was already aware of how the art of fengshui could change the energy in a room, home or business, replacing negative energy with positive energy and the tremendous shifts that could happen. So I was eager to learn how to shift energy on a more personal level.
After sitting there reading with the carnelian on my leg for about two hours, I was intrigued to realize that for the first time in weeks, I had relief from my back ache.
According to ‘The Crystal Bible’, “Carnelian activates the base chakra…heals lower back problems…” p.95
“Crystals heal holistically. That is to say, they work on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels of being. They realign subtle energies and dissolve dis-ease, getting to the root cause. Crystals work through vibrations, rebalancing the biomagnetic sheath that surrounds and interpenetrates the physical body and activating linkage points to the chakras that regulate the body’s vibrational stasis. By bringing the chakras back into balance, many states of physical and psychological dis-ease can be ameliorated.” p.24 “Crystals have been connected with particular parts of the body and its organs for thousands of years.” p.25
After that day, I was hooked and crystals have become an everyday part of my life ever since.
And not surprisingly, crystals then became the top seller in our store.
When we had to close The Fung Shway Way in 2007, I continued selling crystals at flea markets and rock shows. It was while I was at a rock show in Hamilton ON, that I became inspired to create bracelets with the healing benefits of the crystals in mind, and my business as THE ROQeeler ( the rock healer) was born.
Throughout the years I have had many encounters of witnessing their magically subtle, yet powerful healing properties, and I continue to make and sell them throughout the world on my Etsy website. Note: They are never intended to replace the care of licensed physicians.
It has continued as a joyous hobby, and I love that others enjoy the creations that I make.
